According to IT Security fir, Hold Security, there are about 360 million stolen sets of personal data for sale on the dark web. This same investigation also uncovered about 1.25 billion email addresses available on the black market.

The email address can be bought for use with various scams, while the data set take the form of credentials. The credentials pose a greater threat to the business and individuals more than a credit card theft, or a standard theft because it can be used to access to networks serving bank accounts, health records, or corporations.

One attack results in a theft of 105 million records which is dated to be the largest data breach ever recorded.
