Cisco announced on Sunday that they have obtained Miraki for $1.2 billion. It is a way for Cisco to address the mid-market segment in terms of cloud hosting solutions using the Meraki Cloud Controller. This acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of Cisco’s fiscal year in 2013. Meraki is a cloud-based hosting solution that is aimed for the mid-market customers. Meraki technology will include WiFi, switching, security, mobile device management, guest networking, WAN optimization, application firewall, and other networking services. According to Cisco, it will take Miraki’s cloud platform and business model then scale it under a new division.
