A group of companies which is lead by Facebook launched Internet.org to provide internet access to the next 5 billion people. The project is a partnership between Facebook and six other companies. The plans were revealed in a post in Facebook’s newsroom along with the release of Zuckerberg’s whitepaper: “Is connectivity a human right?”.

The internet.org is a partnership with Samsung, Opera, Nokia, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and MediaTek. Internet.org will develop joint projects, share knowlddge, and mobilize the industry and government to bring the world online.
