IBM announced in Monday that it has acquired data migration software developer Butterfly Software. Butterfly, which is based in Maidenhead, England offers storage planning software and migrations tools that can help companies save storage space and minimize power consumption. With Butterfly software, IBM plans to use the tool to help their clients deliver greater value from its storage and hardware solutions. In addition to that, Butterfly will ensure that the migration won’t disrupt customers during the live-production setup. Buttefly services has been offered before as a value added components to IBM’s Tivoli storage manager lines.
