Cloud hosting provider, Jelastic has teamed-up with OpenShift, Red Hat’s PaaS to drvie the global standardization of PaaS cartridges which will allow applications to easily include services and frameworks.

Cartridges are advanced packaging format that includes frameworks, databases, connectors to external backends, and monitoring services. These packages will allow PaaS developers, and end-users to add services and applications quickly.

As a part of this collaboration, Jelaastic will add support for OpenShift’s cartridge model with Platform-as-Infrastructure or Pai. PaI combines Infrastructure-as-a-Service into a single platform which makes it easier to access standard applications and lack the critical levels of configurability, and flexibility enterprises, in demand.
