Microsoft is accelerating its cloud data infrastructure to support growth in their Azure cloud services and XBox live gaming service. In recent weeks, Microsoft has leased large chunks of server space in data centers in Silicon Valley and northern Virginia. The latest release which is about 9.4 megawatts of critical power, Microsoft is established as the biggest fish in the market in terms of super wholesale tenants.

The reason for data center expansion is that they are having a major upgrade to their XBox infrastructure.

As Microsoft is expanding to deal with the demanding workloads, the company is pursuing in hybrid strategy to build state-of-the-art data centers in areas where power and land are cheap.
