Cloud hosting provider, Rackspace lauches AutoScale. AutoScale is a tool which lets application grow or shrink your cloud to meet the users and resource demands. It allow administrators to set rules which will change the size of their clouds according to a schedule-based and event-based policies.

Examples of schedule-based policies is when period of load are expected especially during seasonal periods like Black Friday or Christmas.

Event-based policies monitor servers and reduce its capacity based on the detected load.

It is worth noting that Amazon implemented the same service back in 2009. Which means that Rackspace is still slow to implement this feature which is essentially a crucial component for any cloud.
