Tieto business pictureEuropean IT services provider, Tieto is investing $13.7 million so they can doulbe the size of their data center in Espoo, Finland. Tieto began the construction of energy-efficient data center way back in January 2010. At the time of the build, Tieto said that the planned maximum capacity is 19,680 square-feet. This new expansion will double the capacity which will then enable them to shut down two of their outdated facilities.

Tietos investment not only aims to expand data center capacity but upgrade into a greener technology. The datacenter currently produces 30 GigaWatts (GW) of heat and with the expansion, this will double significantly. The data centers currently has a power effeciency of 1.2 to 1.3 which lets them receive an Uptime Institue GEIT Award in 2011.
