Canonical has released Ubuntu 12.10 server on Thursday and is proud to announce the Folsom release of OpenStack. With OpenStack Folsom, Ubuntu 12.10 servers will offer block storage service Cinder and virtual networking API Quantum. With this new feature, developers can deploy a faster, more flexible, and cost-effective cloud services. Ubuntu 12.10 server is also the first server operating system to support Intel’s new Open Attestation in an OpenStack environment. Other features included are the following:

  • Crypto key to authenticate cloud images.
  • Juju is natively supported in OpenStack clouds.
  • Support Calxeda hyperscale hardware.

If enterprises are built under Ubuntu 12.04 infrastructure, no need to worry because Ubuntu 12.04 will remain a long-term support.
